Socket MCB wont switch on

I got home to find the downstairs socket MCB tripped it wouldn't turn on so I started unplugging things on the circuit one at a time and flipping it back on but nothing. I have now unplugged everything (and I do mean everything on that circuit) and it still wont switch on. The RCD works as intended I did test it and the upstairs lights which are the only other thing on the RCD also are working fine The kitchen is an extension and on a separate circuit so just sockets in two rooms that are now unplugged and switched off. Is there anything else I can try short of getting an electrician to test the circuit and the MCB?
