Electric oven - wiring question

Posted by Lola , on
I could do with some reasurance. I am having a single electric oven fitted soon, it is a Neff with pyrolitic cleaning. My electrician was originally going to connect it to a separate dedicated circuit (and he's installed a new consumer unit to make this possible) but now he says it can be connected (hard wired) into the ring main which feeds several sockets, washing machine, dishwasher etc - all the usual kitchen stuff. Is this right? The spec of the oven is: 16 amp, 3450w, total connected load 3.4kw, max pyrolitic consumption 4.8kw. It seems odd to me that he is suggesting this, especially as he is having to lay anoother separate cable for a 32 amp induction hob.

The on site guide says that anything over 2kw should be on a dedicated circuit. Hope this clarifies things for you. Steven
