Neutral mains wire no power. Live does.

I have a issue on my downstairs sockets. It's also runs my boiler upstairs strange.. Today the boiler stopped, no power to neutral. Live and earth are OK. I'm stuck. Any help possible please?

Hi Mark, If the boiler is upstairs and is fed from the downstairs sockets then usually you would be able to see the cable going from the boiler to the socket it has been fed from downstairs. Possibly surface mounted in PVC trunking. If all the sockets downstairs are working then the break in the circuit must either be at the point the boiler has been fed from the downstairs sockets or behind the fuse spur adjacent to the boiler. If you are confident enough to have a look I would suggest turning off the power at your consumer unit and checking all connections at both points if possible. Failing that I think you may need to seek professional advice.
