Move a cooker socket

Posted by ARCHIE JAMIESON, on
I would like to remove the cooker socket and extend the original cooker cable to its new socket position then plaster over the old one. What can I use to make the joint ? The junction boxes I've seen don"t go above 30 amps

Hi Archie, Connector blocks and junction boxes aren’t designed to be buried under plaster. Over time the connection on this type of junction will breakdown. The only way to extend a circuit like this is to crimp the connection. However, the circuit would need to be tested after the work is done requires certification. Therefore I would not recommend attempting it yourself, instead consult a qualified electrician. Regards, Phil
