No earth wire to light switch

Posted by Karl Orsborn, on
I'm replacing a single gang switch to a double gang switch and the new switch I've bought is too big for the back box. I was going to buy a new back box but I've noticed that there is no earth wire at all. What does this tell me about the wiring? It's an old 1930s house and I'm not sure when the wiring was last done. I'm aware of the fact that I should be ok with a type 2 (plastic) switch but what about the back box? This is already metal, and unearthed, by the looks of it

Hi Karl , my advice would be to get an electrical condition report done. It will tell you exactly what you need and what state your electrics are in
