First fix electrics help.

Posted by Anna Anderson, on
We have had a new flush cooker switch back box installed which we now don't need as we are getting a cooker which will need to be hard wired. We have a plasterer coming to do the kitchen at 8.30 on Tuesday morning. Is it safe for us to remove the back box and attached cables from the walls so that the plasterer can fill in the hole that we now don't need? Obviously we would just leave them and not attempt to disconnect any further.

Hi Anna, Not sure I understand the question completely but I'll try my best, Firstly, I strongly advise that you get the help of a qualified electrician to undertake any kind of works to do with electrics (even something as small as this due to the fact that they can fully test the circuit after the alteration) Secondly, In order to keep within the regulation (Part P) that brand new cooker still needs to have a cooker switch in order to isolate said cooker in the event of a fire, maintenance etc. In short I would strongly advise to get a qualified electrician to go through it all with you its not as straight forward as you may believe. I hope this helps Stephen
