Both your Main Gas Supply and Main Water Supply (or any other metallic services coming into house) Metallic Pipework must be earthed back to the Main Electrical Consumer Unit. This is called Protective Earth Bonding PEB and can only be omitted if the pipework is plastic entering the property from outside.
