Hi I've been trying to fix my mother in laws pull switch bathroom light. Fixed my own a couple of times with no issues but when I installed this one and switched the power back on it didn't work. Her switch was broken. I couldn't find a switch to match her socket so i installed a new socket and switch. Hers has 2 red wires, a green and yellow wire and 2 black wires that weren't connected to anything when opened the old socket. I followed the instructions I got with the new socket and switch and attacked one red wire to the comm screw terminal

Its a Bencon pull switch bathroom ceiling light. The switch has screw in connectors inside with clamps. I've never seen those before and I think that must be what I did wrong. All I've seen beforw are screw connectors where the screw screws down onto the wire and holds it in place. These ones have metal plates that open up as you turn the screw then tighten when you screw the other way. I installed a new socket and switch. There are 2 red wires and one yellow and green wire in the ceiling. There are also 2 black wires but they were not connected to the old socket. I followed the instructions I got with the new socket and switch. 1 red wire to L2, 1 red wire to comm (common), the green and yellow wire to Earth. The problem was that the screw in plate connectors were not all the same. The L2 and comm connectors had bronze coloured bottom plates and silver coloured top plates. The earth connector has a different connector. It appears to have 2 silver plates but they don't separate whe the screw is turned. Both plates move up and down together and don't come apart. What I don't understand is where the wire is meant to go on the earth terminal. It can't go between the silver plates as they don't separate. Does it go above the plates or below them ? Does the wire need to be touching the silver plate or the screw inside ? I assume that with the other terminals the naked wire is meant to go between the 2 plates ? That it does not need to be touching the screw ? Its the screw connector in the Earth terminal that really has ever confused. I don't understand why its completely different from the other 2 connectors or why it has 2 plates that do not separate. Hope you can help me !
