I had a new consumer unit fitted five years ago and had an EICR at the point it was fitted. I have just received an "unsatisfactory" assessment for my new EICR certificate, and the inspector has told me that I need a new 30mA rated RCD for the lighting circuit, and that this will mean replacing the entire consumer unit. Is it not possible to just replace the RCD? Why would I need to replace the whole CU?
