Installing extractor fan

Posted by Dan Henderson, on
Had a cheap fan which had no timer, started working when lights were turned on, all was fine with this fan. We have down lighters in this bathroom. Now changing fan for an upgraded model with timer, Xpelair DC100TS. We have red, blue , yellow and yellow/green wires. Wired new fan up with red (live), blue (neutral), yellow (switch timer). No luck, fan does not work. Junc box is in the loft which links down lighters and cable for fan. Used multimeter on this and don’t seem to get any reading at all. Strange as lights work. Totally confused as to where to look next. I know the fan works as I wired it up in another bathroom and all is fine. Any help very welcome. Thanks ??
