Cracked socket cover

Posted by Karmina Danmole, on
I was having an issue with a plug not entering the socket, it would go in sideways and get jammed half way, so i basically opened the socket, taking all precautions, and i used a flathead screwdriver to just gently push the prong back to the original positioning, making sure the plug could actually enter the socket, and which it did, so i put everything back together. Then a few minutes after using the socket, the cover cracked, which i heard, so i looked and it cracked right next to where the screw, but no smoke, or sparks, and my phone was still charging. I thought maybe i screwed it on too tight, as i am heavy handed, so turned off the electrics again just to loosen it a little bit, but havent switched it back on since because when i looked online i kept seeing an article about burn outs and that causing a crack; although those cracks were where the plugs actually enter, my cracks around the screw hole. So im really not sure
