I wish to fit a solid oak floor to my lounge/dinning room. What precautions are required to ensure the wood is not effected by any damp problems in the future

Hi ewan based on what you said about it being a solid floor i would assume it is being glued down so the first thing is to get the installer to damp test the floor with a meter and if there is any indication of damp at all i would advise a paintable two coat dpm to be put down and also use the correct adhesive as they do help inhibit damp. hope this helps . alan
