3 year old tile kitchen floor all the tiles are broken & cracked

Posted by kris kham, on
I had a new kitchen fitted ontop of porcelain tiles, all the tiles are moving, cracked, grout keeps coming out, tiles move when walked on. What can i do to sort this out now? I am happy to change flooring type if required

Hi Is the initial floor concrete or timber ? It sounds as though it could be a timber floor and the floor has not been prepared correctly before the tiles have been laid The tiles will need to be lifted and the floor strengthened with a WBP ply 12.5mm thick screwed at 100mm centres then using a flexible adhesive lay your new tiles . The tiles should be left for a minimum of 12 hours and then grouted using a flexible grout If you require a new flooring type then the floor should still be prepared correctly either by using a self levelling compound if it is a concrete floor and ply if it is a wooden floor Hope this helps Regards Dave
