Carpet underlay to reduce airbourne noise from below.

Posted by Alex , on
We live in a Victorian conversion, the flooring is currently a timber joist, with a carpet on top. We need to reduce the airbourne noise coming from the flat below. I've read about putting acoustic matting under the carpet, will this really make a difference?

Hi alex from my experience it does make a certain amount of difference if it is installed correctly but it wont reduce it totally because of the age of the building a lot of noise will travel through the walls as well but it will certainly improve it . hope this helps alan
