How to remove stains on a limestone floor?

Posted by Andrew Marris, on
How do I get rid of stains on a limestone bathroom floor? It should have been regularly sealed (every 6 months or so) but this wasn't done so there are now stains from shampoos and spills etc, so i guess it needs the equivalent of a sanding down and resealing, but what exactly needs to be done now?

Hi Andy You could get away with it by having it lightly scrubbed with a high speed buffer then coated again if that dont work then the sealer will need to be stripped and redone. Hope this helps. Regards Colin PS dont need to be sealed every 6 months you can use a maintainer on top,you do this by going from up and down with a applicator or mop leave to dry for 15 min ,then do the same again going from left to right let dry 15 min then it should dry with a shine. Hope this helps. Regards Colin

Hi Andy, Limestone comes under the classification of sedimentary stone therefore there is a good chance that your chosen flooring stone will be quite porous. Limestone is made up of layers or sediment so it will be possible to buff down the layers to remove the marks and reseal however it would be best practice to lift the stone flag if possible and buff it down outside for dust issues then refit it. Hello Andy, You will need to hire a floor tile cleaner and then start the sealing process all over again Regards Michael
