Re-varnishing a late 70s wood block floor vs. carpeting over it?

Posted by Charlotte May , on
Hi, We are in the process of buying a house - it has a late 70s wood block floor (not proper parquet we don't think but little square blocks in different directions). Some of the areas are worn - so we were wondering about re-varnishing and if this would look uneven even if it was re-done? Also in the living room we think we'd prefer carpet (as a large rug is far more expensive!) is it possible to stick carpet directly over it? Will there be much of a problem with the internal doors/skirting? Thanks V much for answering my (no doubt!) basic/silly Qs

Hi Charlotte. Carpet over fingerbone parquet is ok as with normal parquet. Withe the issue of carpet re doors and skirting ,still ok Jeff, Guild Flooring
