Laying a wood floor on concrete.

How do I lay a solid wood floor on concrete?

Hello Tony, there are a couple of methods of fixing solid wood floor to concrete but I must stress that on no account should the floor be 'fixed' it must be allowed to move. So, first method is to lay a plastic membrane over the area then fix timber battens directly to concrete sub floor at 300mm spacings making sure not to drill into pipes/cables. You can fit Jablite polystyrene inbetween battens, then you can fix your solid wood floor to the battens through the tongue (secret nailing) The second method is to use self adhesive underlay, which the wood floor is stuck down to but allows the floor to move. Hope this is of use to you, cheers Ian
