Wood flooring over concrete

Posted by Gareth Ellis, on
We are looking to replace our carpet with wood flooring. We have concrete underneath the carpet underlay. We are curious to know if there are any types of wood flooring which are not suitable to be used over a concrete floor. We are also curious if a flooring installer would also be able to take care of removal and re-fitting of skirting boards as part of installation.

Hi Gareth as long as the floor is not showing signs of damp and you use an underlay with built in damp proof membrane (dpm) you can use all types of floor, remember to leave adequate room for expansion on the edges. Most fitters would remove the skirting and refit once the floor as been layer, this will give a much better appearance. Ed
