Screeding

Posted by Sharon Heggie, on
I recently had my kitchen floor screeded and I assumed that my floor would be completely level not with lumps of concrete and old tiles showing through, surely I wont be able to tile over it as its not even

Hi Sharon. The absolute must to do first is to check to see if the floor is sound. Meaning is it secure to the base floor. So check for any cracks and tap along the floor and if it sounds hollow and if this the case then the best thing is to sadly take up the Screeded /Latex Compounds and re Lay. Its very hard to make a judgement when not actually seeing the Job Unfortunatley if you decide to go over the floor without being 100% sure if it is secure,it may cost you . It very hard to make a judgement call without actually visiting the property. So ou may wish to advertise the job . Jeff Guild Flooring

Hi Sharon have you had the floor screeded or a levelling compound applied to an existing floor? The floor needs to be reasonably level to make a good job of the tiling, it may need more layers of levelling compound. Ed
