Parquet flooring

Posted by Kirsti Staindale, on
Existing parquet floor is affected by damp under the bay window and smells musty but elsewhere is sound but worn. the cause of damp has been dealt with. Should it all be removed/just the bad sections and can new parquet flooring be installed on top? this is a Grade 2 listed building - can you recommend someone

Dear Kirsti, Is it just a musty odor that is worrying you, or parquet has deformed as well? You can do whatever required, but you still need a government consent to carry on, of course depending what you are planning to do. If it is just a smell, you could start with dehumidifying the area, but careful, newly installed wood items might deform! Parquet should be fine, as it must be decades it was installed.
