I'll definitely be spending a lot of time in the basement, so I want to make sure the floor is as protected and insulated as possible. I've weighed all the different options of subfloor, like those 2x2 insulated/premade Dricore panels, but I don't to go that route. I feel like the best way to go is the more old-fashioned way. But I've seen two different ways- a vapor barrier against the slab, then almost "framing" the floor with 2x4s and putting foam insulation panels in between, but also people just laying a vapor barrier, then an entire layer of foam insulating panels, no 2x4 "frame" at all, just a continuous layer of rigid foam panels that make up the entire subfloor, then Tuck Tape on all of the seams, to seal them all, then the plywood subfloor on top of that.
My question is, which of those two methods (the "framing" the cement slab with the foam panels in between, or the continuous layer of just foam panels) is the best/warmest option?
Thank you!
