is it an older boiler ? if so then yes it could well be hope that helps
Boiler pilot light won't stay lit.

Baxi 401 pilot light will not stay lit. Following instructions I can light it with the ignition button and with the grey button pressed in. When the grey button is released slowly, the light goes out. Could be thermocouple, There is no smell of gas.

Could be the thermocouple or gas valve problem ether way you need a qualified person to work on it.
