Do i need a heating engineer to fit a wireless thermostat controller?

Posted by chris clarke, on
Currently I control the heat through the knobs on the boiler. I would like wireless control of this. Is this something I can do myself or is it best to get a tradesman? The boiler is a potterton gold and is two yrs. old, and still under warranty.

Hi Chris, I understand you will like to have a go, but please let a qualified operative do this one. There are several on the market... Cheap to very very expensive. If you get it wrong.... 1. It could cost you more if you wire it incorrectly and damage other components....especially the PCB. 2. You could get electrocuted. 3. You may wire it correctly and it will still not work if you struggle to set it up correctly..... And you will need to call a pro to fix it. Good luck.

Hi Chris A good heating engineer with thorough electrical skills will be able to do the job or an electrician that installs heating controls on a regular basis. Either way the installer must have knowledge on the working side of the electrics and the plumbing of the system. Hope the advice helps. Many thanks Sam (eps)
