(1) Install Boiler correctly by competent person. (2) Install a filter on the system. (3) Make sure inhibitor is placed in the system and if drained down should be re-placed. (4) Have your boiler inspected by a gas engineer every 12 months. These 4 points should prolong any boilers life.

Hi Naveed, Start with a system cleansing (clean the internal radiators/pipework/re-new water and corrosion inhibitor), Install a central heating filter and check regularly, Ensure you have a limescale inhibitor fitted on the supply to the boiler. Service it regulary. Increase efficiency and have the boiler work less; make sure your home insulation is very good. A further step in economy could be to make the system WiFi controlled (turn it off/on via smartphone/pc) so its never operating when you aren't in. A nice WiFi system can turn off heating to individual rooms that aren't in use. Hope this helps. Jan. South Coast Boilers

Hi Naveed Installing a magnetic filter on the return pipe closest to the boiler will definitely help. This will catch the sludge/iron oxide before it enters the boiler. An annual service will also help. A lot of customer's only call us out when the boiler breaks down. They assume the boiler just need a "good service". This is not the case at all!! Most breakdowns can be prevented when regular services are carried out. Your boiler is a bit like your car. Works just as hard if not harder and you would never think not to service your car. I wouldn't bother with an breakdown contracts. You'll find really good heating engineers from this site. Just make sure you read their ratings before hiring anyone. Best of luck. Sam (eps)

Hi Naveed!! That's easy mate. Install magnetic filters to protect boiler from sludge. A limescale reducer is supposed to help too. Most importantly, you need to source a reliable heating operative to service the boiler regularly. You WILL avoid costly repairs as most mechanical and hydraulic related issues (except faulty electrical components) will be identified and rectified during service.
