Boiler pressure

Posted by Emily Cunningham, on
We have had someone from Scottish power come and inspect our boiler to take out homecare, but he said that we have a problem with our Worcester greenstar boiler, as the pressure needle was on 0. However, our heating works fine, and the pressure rises to 2 when the heating is switched on. So do we have a problem? And is this something we could sort out ourselves? Thanks, Emily

Hi Emily the boiler may be working ok at the moment but sounds to that your pressure vessel inside the boiler may be at fault as the pressure is raising from 0 to 2 bar there really should be a rais of half a bar . If this is the prob it won't be a major job to repair and £70 for a new vessel (if required) and around £80 for your labour cost

hi emily, have you notice a leak on the system at all ? a pressurised system will only drop in pressure if it is leaking out of the heating system! you operating pressure in a heating system is between 1- 1.5 bars when heating system isn't on but once heated it will it expand half a bar rising to 2 bar which isn't a problem!
