Can i leave central heating on but turn off mains cold water supply?

Posted by John Gorman, on
I want to leave my central heating on with thermostat set to 10 degrees while on holiday in Feb. To prevent the possibility of flooding I also want to turn off my cold water supply at the stop cock. Can I safely do this?

Hi John It should be ok to do so if you have a combi boiler. If you have a conventional system it is safe to have the heating and main water stop tap off as it is very unlikely that the pipe work will freeze as it is only gravity fed and not pressurised. Sam (eps)
