Move boiler from one room to another

Posted by Andy Buckley, on
Hi, I have a Worcester combi boiler that works fine and is about 7 years old. I want to move it from a bedroom to the bathroom. The rooms are next to each other, although they're on a split level, and the bathroom is about five stairs below the bedroom. The boiler is currently on the far wall of the bedroom. I don't really know where to start with it. I'd like to know what the job would entail and what kind of tradesman I'd need (other than being gas safe registered). Some kind of rough estimate would be appreciated as well. Eventually I need to redo the bathroom so I want to know if it's worth doing this first, or if I should wait and do them both together. Thanks.

Andy Gas Safe engineer/Plumber is what you need, we're used to drilling through walls & working under floor etc. With split level rooms you need to consider where the pipes will come through as it won't be straight under the wall. It's always beneficial and quick if things are out of the way when doing a boiler move and can lead to a neater job so if you're thinking of doing the bathroom then you may wish to do it all in one go. As a rough guide for labour it would probably be around the £500 mark plus copper pipe and fittings etc. Hope this helps. Alex
