Fitting gas hob

I have a built in electric oven and gas hob. The oven needed replacing & i did this myself. I read online that i should not replace the gas hob myself as this is actually illegal but it seems like just a fitting similar to a light connecter. Is this something that needs an engineer? Is it a big job?

Do not touch it! You are not competent to do so! There are procedures & tests that need to be done that you are not qualified it able to carry out! Not to mention it is ILLEGAL! Get a qualified tradesman to do it before you kill someone or yourself !
