Hello I have a Baxi back boiler (about 30 yrs old!) which has been working fine (gas ch) but I've recently noticed some damp patches around the gas fire in front of it. I'm also sometimes aware of a damp smell recently too... so I'm thinking this isn't good news and the boiler is possibly leaking?! Money is tight (bordering on invisible) so could it be repaired? If not whats the cheapest option? Last year I had the immersion tank replaced so I'm thinking combi isn't the way to go? My house is quite small and I do like having instant heat in living room from gas fire - so could I still use it even if the boilers no good until I can afford something else? I even wondered if it would be cheaper to have a wood burner put in (not to heat radiators unless this is cheaper option?) and just use extra electric heat if needed? Sorry for so many questions... just not sure what to do and so any suggestions would be very much appreciated. Thank you so much!
Sue
