Central heating - motor in Horstmann F322m 3 way valve has died

I can get hot water to rads by manually switching the valve using the level on the side of the actuator so valve works ok, just isn't automatically switching the valve. Thermostat clicks on/off when turned. Could this be something a heating engineer could fix without replacing the valve/draindown? The F322m is now redundant (new model actuator does not fit the same valve body)...
I've already posted a job - just trying to get opinions before I speak to tradesmen directly?
