Combisave Valve

Posted by Madeleine Bali, on
At my last service, the engineer recommended fitting a Combisave valve on our Combi Boiler. We have long runs of pipe to kitchen and bathroom, and use a lot of water waiting for it to get hot. Would the combisave make it more efficient?

Hello Madeleine, I would say that the Combisave will save the water it claims which if you have a water meter fitted and pay by the litre could save you a small amount. I'm a little sceptical about these devices as they cost c. £40 and then probably the same to fit so would doubt you would ever get your money back. With regards to the energy loss from heating all that water that sits in the long runs, the best way to deal with that is to insulate the pipes with the thickest insulation you can find, say 10 or 20mm wall thickness..
