Gas leak on Lead pipe at gas meter

United Utilities have renewed the service pipes and when they came to turn the gas on they found a small leak on private side of meter which is lead at the T junction where it goes under the floor there is about 2' void and trap door the lead pipe goes about 4 Meters with one T going to front room which has no fire and then goes into copper pipe which has T junction to fire and continues in copper to kitchen

Hi, All lead pipe must be removed and replaced with copper pipe in the case of a gas escape present in the pipework. Once the pipework is rectified a tightness test should be carried out to establish if further investigation is required. All work must be carried out by a qualified Gas Safe engineer.
