Cooker gas supply

Posted by Paul Eaton, on
Hi, I have just purchased a new build property and my gas supply for the cooker is located in a low cupboard next to where the cooker should be, I have questioned this as I have always believed that the supply should be directly behind where the appliance is fitted. Could someone please clarify on if it is possible to connect from here or if the pipe needs to be re situated. Many thanks

It’s fine for the connection to be in the cupboard next to it, the reason it’s not directly behind is so the cooker will fit flush with the wall behind it. I must stress that any connection of the gas cooker should be carried out by a registered Gas Safe engineer
