Can ovens use a 3-pin plug or do they need to be hard-wired?

We bought a house that came with a large Smeg range cooker. This cooker seems unusual in that it's plugged in using a normal 3-pin plug instead of being hard-wired. It's definitely on its own electrical ring. Is this normal or should this be replaced if we wanted to replace the oven?
