Hi Mick It is important that you seat your rsj onto at least one brick width on each side 100mm or 4 inch in old money. Also ensure that your rsj is not situated over an archway or window or doorway it needs to have brickwork directly below it down to the foundations just to be safe. If different contact a structural engineer or an experienced builder ??
