Re-plastering ceiling

Posted by Caz Lockwood, on
I have removed the wallpaper from two walls in one of my bedrooms but the other walls are ok to paint over. The ceiling is wallpapered and the edges are a real mess, paper coming off and plaster underneath is not in good condition. Do I need to re-plaster the ceiling to rectify it or is there a cheaper option?

Cheapest is to probably use lining paper and repaper the ceiling then paint, otherwise depending on the condition of the ceiling you may need to board over and skim.Hope this helps caz:-)

Caz There are a couple of options 1] Over board existing ceiling then skim 2] Remove paper P V A then skim Both options are really straightforward and half days work Dave DS Plasterers [Halifax]

Hi caz the best option would be to board over with 6x3 9.5 plaster boards you don't have to worry about taking the Paper off , & it's more likely the rest of the ceiling is not in good shape It's a days work if average size bedroom G. Branch plastering

Hi Caz You might get away with bonding then plastering it really all depends on the level of finish required. If you want a perfect finish to paint over the best option is to have your ceiling boarded then skimmed. Regards Charles Wisdom Property Experts (UK) Ltd.

To get the best look you should have the areas skimmed. Time wise this will be faster and the area will look new again. The other option is to use filler. Then letting it dry and sanding as required and may be more filler etc .i would say skimming is the best option to give the best look.
