skimming the walls on old plaster is a quick fix why ? because the old plaster is still moving so when you skim on top you will get cracks their are ways to fix the problem 1stip the wall back to brick and dry line the walls 2 pep the walls and wall rock the surface this is like lining paper but it is different because it is fibre back which makes it stronger which hold back all the cracks this paper you paste the wall not the paper I hope this has given you some ideas in how to fix your problem many thanks darbyinteriors
