Drilling hole for tumble drier vent

Posted by Paul Collins, on
I'm a decorator/ carpenter using Rated people, in fact I am one of the 'experts'. Next month I'm going to be installing a utility room and will need to make holes through the brick wall for the tumble drier vent and the waste water. Not something I've done before. I've got an 850 watt 3.5kg sds drill, with mechanical clutch, can be used with or without hammer. Would this be man enough to handle a 100mm+ core drill, and any recommendations re diamond or TC, hammer or not? What would be the most suitable size core drills to get? Any advice will be much appreciated. Thanks Paul Collins

Hi Paul For drilling you will need 110 mm core drill and extension if wall is thicker than 100 mm. While drilling do not use hammer action as this will damage your core drill. Drill at lower speed Best regards Rafal

Hi Paul you need a110 mm core drill your sds drill will do the job. Drill a 12 mm hole through wall first on hammer then drill through from each side with core drill on slowest speed possible do not use hammer allow 30 mins. To drill hole and don't force drill or it will jam and the clutch will slip
