Estimates should usually be free unless agreed to beforehand for such reasons as you may be asked to pay for the quotation if your chosen plumber has had to travel a long distance to attend at the request or if a fault diagnosis has been requested on a boiler or central heating system. If in doubt always speak to a couple of local traders before agreeing on anything.
