Easy to use child safety pool cover

Posted by Julie Godfrey, on
I need some advice, and I don't know who to ask that will give me an unbiased opinion. My dilemma is this: My in-laws live close by and have a medium size inground swimming pool, right outside the back door of their house. There is no gate around it, and they have been extremely resistant to doing any sort of safeguarding for their pool. I have a 2-year-old and a 4-year-old, that I do not allowed to stay over their house for this reason. This is causing all sorts of family issues, as you might imagine. I think I have talked them into at least putting a child safe cover on the pool. My desire would be for them to put an automatic cover on, because it would be easier to put on, and therefore get used as often as it should be, when they are there. I know, however, that they are going to freak out about the cost of the automatic covers. My question is, are there any non-automatic pool covers that are easy to apply, and can be done quickly and buy one person? Unfortunately, I know they are going to want the cheapest option possible, since they don't want any safety measures for the pool in the first place.
