Can you tile direct to plasterboard

Having to replace some plasterboard after stripping off existing tiles. Can I tile direct to plasterboard without skimming

Hi john If you going to tile in a bathroom where shower is gonna be and plasterboard is not moisture resistant( green) only white for general use then it's always advisable to skim first then tile but if you will use tile primer should be ok. Please use good stuff not B&Q one I hope this can help. Best regards Rafal

You can, but it would be beneficial to apply some PVA to the plasterboard first. It is always better to skim however.

Yes you can tile straight onto plasterboard , but if you ever decide to take off at a later date the tiles will pull all the paper off plasterboard , if plastered tiles would come off easier

Hi John, Yes of course you can. But use tile primer (they sell them at most B&Q's, Wickes and others) and then you can tile directly to the plasterboard. Don't use PVA.

you can but dont exspect it to last long,as after time it will start to come off either skim it or use aqua board with this u can tile stright away kevin gannon multitrade
