well john, you have an advantage and that is he did not take a deposit of you, i assume. its better to know now the type of company your dealing with then after the work has been done. one can only guess the service you would have received if you had to call him back. cut your losses at this stage and look for someone else. if you have entered into a contract then you can proceed further, but personally i would not go to the trouble unless money has exchanged hands.
