No Wood is supposed to breath plastic doesn't if you over clad all that does is accelerate the rotting process ! For example if you put your hand in a plastic bag what happens? It sweats same principle . Get a full replacement job with ventilation , felt replacement etc you won't go far wrong or alternatively you'll end up paying out twice in the end .false economy I think they call it.
