Refund of deposit paid to double glazing company

Posted by Siddiq Khanporia, on
I recently had a sales rep come to my home address and provide me with a quote for replacing the front door. The door measurements in rough were taken and 20% deposit had been paid but after 4 days prior to the surveyor attending my property to carry out the survey as required I have contacted the company in question and cancelled my corder/contract to which they shockingly advised me my 20% deposit is non-refundaable and that a further 10% admin fee will be charged should I go ahead with this cancellation... please advise can they do this legally..!? Also at the time of providing the quote the ssales rep at no point provided me with adequate information about the key terms and conditions such as the right of cancellation, cooling off period and also the finance options available to me prior to me making the 20% deposit payment.
