Triple glazing badly fitted

Posted by James Hagerty, on
My wife and I have addressed this problem by writing text and email on several occasions and as yet we have had no inspection of the problems raised. On installation the fitter cut of from each end of the units about a half inch of material. I tried to stop him from doing this and he explained that there was always a need to do this due to the internal dimensions of the cavity. I asked him if there was not a need to have the windows changed as it appeared to me that the measurement was not carried out properly. Again I was told that the person doing the measuring always gave greater readings but he (the fitter) found it easier to fit the windows after removing the ends of the windows. I have dampness on the inside of the windows and condensation on the inside of the glass. The condensation on the frames is causing serious discolouring and is becoming offensive because of the smell. The noise of wind passing is very loud and the triple glazing does not seem to be making a change in internal heat. can I have an independent survey and will this help me to get some satisfaction from the window installer. Regards J Hagerty
