The Direct Debit Guarantee is a consumer protection scheme offered by all UK banks and building societies. If a payment is taken in error or without your authorisation, you're entitled to an immediate full refund from your bank, no questions asked. You must always receive advance notice of the amount and date before any payment is collected. You can cancel your Direct Debit at any time by contacting your bank. This guarantee applies automatically to every Direct Debit, there's nothing extra you need to do to be protected.
