Thanks Paul, here is how I see it from a customers perspective. I waited over two weeks for an estimate and had to chase. You said you were off sick and immediately sent me an estimate for £395 . I costed the parts and they were around £70 so you were charging £325 for labour. I reckoned it was a 2hr job and have since had work done and just under 2hrs at a total cost of £190. So in my simple head you were charging £160/hour for labour versus £60/hour . Just tell customers the truth if job too small
I’m a first class time served tradesman qualified in the profession of carpentry and joinery and have 25 years experience in the construction industry who has recently decided to go out alone as a sole trader and make a go of building up my own business having the knowledge and experience in all aspects of joinery work. No job to big or small. Helped us out, were honest enough to say our boiler was a mess and needed replacing and got us a new boiler super quickly.
On the beginning it was only a cleaning company but during the expansion we provide many other services now as tiling,plumbing,plaster, painting, gardening etc. and co-operate with Sebastian Kardela - bathroom specialist.
Dorota came out right away and quickly established what the fault was with boiler not turning on. Issue was quickly resolved and cost was very reasonable. Happy to recommend their serivices.

James came out to provide a quote and was quite pleasant and helpful. Unfortunately after accepting the job he quit answering messages so we had to find another workman. I'd guess he found a bigger project, which would have been fine if he'd let us know.
