You should fit the shower tray first and seal it with silicon, and then tile leaving a cap of 3 to 5mm between tray and tile, use a good quality mould resistant silicon to seal the gap.

I've seen the tray fitted after tiling ( usually because the seal needs repairing) but would never recommend this method. It is always better to fit tray first, siliconing to the wall and then tile down to the tray and seal again between the tray and the bottom row of tiles.
Dear Marion This is very good practise to tile over shower tray as you have 2 layers of sealant to make your shower tray water tight. Best regards Rafal
always fit the shower tray first and then the tiles on to the shower tray this way you get a really good seal
Hi Marion. I lay in my bathroom jobs waterproof matting, that stuff for wetroom to seal the walls, then I fit the tray using silicones between tray and matting. In top will come tiles, grout and silicone again. 100% safe . Thanks
You should always fit the tray first and seal it with silicone then tile down to tray and seal again that way you have 2 water seals

Hi Marion, Gareth is spot on. Fit the tray first, seal it to the wall with sanitary silicone, then tile down onto the tray.
