Stop delays of the job

Posted by Jennifer Mateer, on
I have paid a good deposit but unless work continues regularly I think I cannot pay anymore. How can I get the builder to get a move on. I await your reply. Thanks

Hi Jennifer, Kai's response is completely correct- a deposit should only cover the cost of materials and be no more than 20% of the overall work. Along with this a payment/work schedule is normally helpful in knowing what work is going to be done and when. This should have been discussed/provided when choosing a tradesperson. Looking forward- it may be obvious, but speaking to the tradesperson regarding the delays and discussing this schedule may be your best first step. If you feel as though this is not helping either contact us (support(at)ratedpeople.com) if you have found the company through our site or Trading Standards for further assistance. Thanks, Josh Ask an expert team

You should always only ever pay material cost upfront never pay any labour cost upfront or you could find yourself with half a job dun and penny less if you have hired a decent builder he will only ask for material money and maybe payments on completion of individual jobs or at stages of the job. DONT PAY TO MUCH UP FRONT
