Shower wall recess

I would like a recessed shelf in my ensuite wall. Can plaster board be tiled or would it leave a damp patch?

Yes it can but aqua board put on top of plaster board first would be better or take plaster board off and put aqau on

Hi the plasterboard should be covered with a liquid tanking membrane before tiling if it's in a wet area . A waterproof adhesive and grout should also be used ,and sealed with silicone
